When a native replies with “Horace Mann” instead of a college when you ask them where they went to school.
Crybaby Macarthur was one of my favorite bands when I was in high school. This picture is from a show at the Bent House in the summer of 2005. From what I recall, Bent Outta Shape played as well that nite, as did the Boston bands Ringers and 40 Watt. My fondest memory of Crybaby is taking the SAT one Saturday and then rushing to see them at ABC No Rio, confident that I had bombed the test and looking forward to a punk rock summer!
Kelly Halliburton is my new favorite drummer. He walks in Chuck Taylors but drums in cowboy boots. He stands up during songs, he climbs onto his kick drum raising a fist, and he drinks beers during the slow parts keeping time with his left hand.
This is what I listen to when I’m stuck on the lonely highway between midnight and two o’clock on Sunday mornings. Not punk, but still raw.

This band takes me back to the 2010 snowstorm in Oxford.
